CODE OF CONDUCT

A Code of Conduct for a football club is crucial to establish clear expectations and promote a positive environment for all members, including players, coaches, parents, and spectators.

Here’s ours;

Players

Do

  • Learn and abide by the laws of the game
  • Listen & do what your coaches ask of you
  • Accept the decisions of the coaches / match officials
  • Play skilfully
  • Play to win but enjoy yourself
  • Be a modest winner and gracious in defeat
  • Praise skilful play by team mates and opponents
  • Be in control of your temper
  • Arrive at training / matches in plenty of time
  • Be polite to everybody
  • Practice / improve your techniques

Do Not

  • Argue or disagree with coaches,
  • referees or lines men
  • Appeal for decisions
  • Lose your self control
  • Lose your temper
  • Retaliate
  • Play unfairly
  • Over react when our team scores
  • Abuse or intimidate opponents or team mates
  • Time waste
  • Swear
  • Spit at anyone

Adults

Do

  • Embrace the Football Associations “Respect” campaign
  • Praise rather than criticise – coaches as well as players
  • Applaud skilful play on both teams
  • Emphasise skilful play first, winning second
  • Praise good behaviour & attitudes
  • Display patience & persistence
  • Set high standards of behaviour – be a role model
  • Be consistent
  • Help understand the rules
  • Respect the decissions of coaches and match officials
  • Understand that players of all abilities deserve their chance to participate
  • Get involved with the club – help out where ever you can

Do Not

  • Cross “Respect” lines or gather behind goals
  • Over coach or manipulate players
  • Shout, scream or swear
  • Argue with coaches, match officials or other parents
  • Become violent or threaten violence
  • Use sarcasm
  • Challenge decisions made by coaches or match officials
  • Ignore or put down those who need your help most
  • Assess players by their inabilities
  • Encourage players to play unfairly
  • Send your child to training or matches if they are unwell
